Hello, amazing friends of Another Child (ACF)! We have some incredible news to share that is sure to warm your hearts. A team of 15 wonderful people from Word of Life Church in Rock Island, Illinois, are gearing up for an extraordinary journey to George, South Africa. Why? To spread the Gospel of Jesus and bring hope to the children of South Africa!
On February 22, this special team will embark on a meaningful adventure, carrying the love of Jesus in their hearts. They will be working hand-in-hand with our ministry partner, Ruby Havens, which is a group home for orphaned children run by the dedicated couple, Jim and Lyn Moomey. Fun fact: the Moomey’s used to live in Moline, Illinois, before answering the call to serve on the mission field.
During their stay in George, the team will be busy making a positive impact. They’ll be visiting preschools and elementary schools, where they’ll present a Vacation Bible School (VBS) to the children. Imagine the joy and excitement as the kids learn about the incredible love of Jesus in creative and interactive ways!
But that’s not all—the team will also be joining forces with a local soup kitchen, serving warm meals to those in need. Additionally, they’ll be making home visits, offering prayers and support to families in the community. It’s a holistic approach to spreading love, compassion, and the teachings of Jesus.
The inspiration for this mission trip came from ACF Director Tim Oloffson’s own experience. Last year, he had the privilege of traveling to South Africa with a mission team. He was captivated by the country’s breathtaking beauty but deeply moved by the challenging circumstances faced by children in the townships of large South African cities.
This journey is not just about geography; it’s about sharing hope, love, and faith across borders. Let’s join hands in prayer and support for the Word of Life Church mission team as they embark on this incredible adventure. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of the children in South Africa, spreading the light of Jesus far and wide. Stay tuned for updates on their journey—your love and support mean the world to us!
