ACF Board member Jessica Huettel shares a reflection

Aug 27, 2024

Hello! Do you know what part of leading this ministry brings me the most joy? Seeing the ministry through the eyes of another person. Today ACF Board member Jessica Huettel shares a reflection.

I can’t believe that I’ve had the honor to serve alongside Another Child Foundation in Romania for the past 12 years. What a blessing it has been to watch the kids grow up over the years and to see them grow in their faith and their academic knowledge.

When I first went to Romania in 2012, many of the children in the community we serve were struggling with their education because they previously had nowhere to go for help. The Point of Hope has grown over the last decade to increase the number of students served, as well as the programs offered to include the life skills classrooms that teach students sewing skills, cooking skills, and woodworking skills.

When I walked into the Point of Hope this summer for my 9th trip, there were many older kids attending than when I first went 12 years ago. What an amazing sign that the loving community that is tended to each day by the staff in Romania is a safe place for students to learn about God, enhance their academic learning, and care for their bodies.

These students are confident and happy. They are hopeful for the future and what they will do with their lives. They now have the opportunity to go on to high school, trade schools, and college if they desire. These children will be the ones to begin to change the generational poverty of the community simply by being given the support all children need.

I am really so proud to be a part of Another Child Foundation. When people ask me why I continue to go back to Romania year after year, the answer is simple. I had worked with nonprofits in many other countries before I went to Romania and many of those places were just serving students for the moment. What I mean by that is that these groups were feeding, clothing and caring for the children, but they weren’t helping to raise them up in a way that would help them be successful in the future.

Then I went to Romania and was so pleased to see that the students at the Point of Hope were not only cared for in the moment, but were also being raised up with their future in mind. It brings me so much joy to watch these kiddos grow and to cheer them on. They’re going to do big things! A lot can be accomplished in 12 years.

It is the constant and reliable support of the ACF donors that allows children to experience the love of God in such a powerful way. I hope this story helps connect you with the work being done through this ministry via your generosity!

Once again I want to thank you for being the Voice for Voiceless children. I hope you keep investing into their lives as long as you can. You are such a blessing to them.
