This October, 18 people from two churches traveled across the ocean to share God’s love with children in Romania. The team came from Harvest Time Bible Church in Illinois and Cumberland Fellowship in Tennessee. Their mission? To bring shoes, hope, and encouragement to kids who need it most.
More Than 800 Pairs of Shoes
The team visited six different places in Romania. Their main stop was the Point of Hope Center in Tarneveni. They also went to four other schools and day centers in the area. Together, they gave out more than 800 pairs of shoes and socks to children!
For many of these kids, this was their first pair of new shoes. The smiles on their faces said it all. Each pair of shoes was more than just footwear—it was a reminder that God loves them and people around the world care about them.
Serving the Community
The mission team didn’t just hand out shoes. They also spent time with families in the community. They hosted a special Mothers Ministry Day for the moms and grandmothers of children who attend Point of Hope. These women received encouragement and support.
The team also gave out food to families in the local community. They wanted everyone to know that God’s love is for all people.
Another Child’s Executive Director, Tim Oloffson, spoke at a Romanian church service. He shared words of hope and encouragement with church members there.
A Special Dedication: The JF Reeve Center
During their visit, the team participated in something very special—the dedication ceremony for the JF Reeve Center. This new youth center is named after John Frank Reeve, who helped start Another Child and passed away in January 2025.
The JF Reeve Center will be a place where high school-aged youth can gather to build their Christian faith and grow in fellowship with friends. It will serve young people who have graduated from the Point of Hope Development Center, giving them a safe place to continue their spiritual journey.
Right now, renovations are just beginning on the building. The team is excited that this center will open its doors in late 2026. When it does, it will be a home where teenagers can worship together, learn, and discover who God created them to be.
John Frank Reeve always dreamed of creating this kind of space for Romania’s youth. Now his dream is becoming reality!
Seeing the Difference
One thing really stood out to the team. They noticed a big difference between children in Another Child’s programs and those who aren’t. The kids at Point of Hope are growing in amazing ways—spiritually, emotionally, and physically. The program is truly changing lives.
The team was impressed by the dedicated staff at Point of Hope. These teachers and workers pour their hearts into helping children every single day.
Exploring Romania
The team also had time to see some of Romania’s history. They visited Dracula’s Castle and explored a medieval fortress. These experiences helped them understand the country and culture better.
A Call to Action
The mission team returned home with full hearts. They saw firsthand how Point of Hope is transforming children’s lives. They also witnessed the beginning of something new with the JF Reeve Center dedication.
Now they’re praying that others will see this difference too—and feel called to support this important work. Every donation helps Another Child continue serving at-risk children in Romania and beyond. Together, we can make a lasting difference in young lives.
