Daria’s Story: A Life Transformed by Point of Hope

Feb 9, 2025

For Daria, Point of Hope (POH) is more than a school—it’s the place that shaped her childhood, her faith, and her future. She began attending POH as a kindergartener and continued through 8th grade. Now, as a 10th grader, she reflects on just how much this place has meant to her.

With emotion in her voice, she shares, “A big part of my childhood is here. I love all the people—they are so kind, so good. They bring you closer to God. And that is the most important thing.”

Daria’s family has faith, but she sees the difference in how faith is lived out. Many of her friends and neighbors believe in God but don’t actively follow Him. “If you are a Christian, you respect the Word of God. You read the Bible every day,” she says. At POH, she didn’t just hear about faith—she learned what it meant to live it.

Because of POH, Daria is deeply connected to her church, where she sings in the choir. She has developed a passion for art, already selling portraits and hoping to use her talents in the future. She also dreams of having a family of her own one day, raising her children in faith just as she was raised. She even hopes to find a husband who shares her values—perhaps one who also graduated from POH!

But Daria knows that without POH, her life could have looked very different. “I think my teenage years would not have been as beautiful. Here, I learned about Jesus and God. Even when I make mistakes, I know He loves me.” She smiles as she recalls her favorite activities—learning, practicing schoolwork, summer camps filled with singing and worship, and the joy of connecting with mission teams from America.

“I remember so many people who came from the United States,” she says. “They were so sweet and caring.”

Now, she shares that love with others, inviting friends and neighbors to experience the same hope she found at POH. Daria is just one story. One life changed. One child who found hope, faith, and a future because someone cared enough to give.

And there are so many more.
